A New Season

A New Season

The start of a new season is only 5 weeks away, and with it the start of 8 months of globe trotting, cumulating with the Grand Final in Lausanne, Switzerland. In recent years Abu Dhabi has always kick started this whirlwind racing journey, hopping from continent to continent chasing the feeling that only a satisfying race result offers. And honestly, I love it!

2019 has brought about a few changes for me, primarily joining the JFTCrew and now being coached by Joel Filliol. With out a doubt, it has been the best performing squad the past two years with results including a clean sweep of the men’s World Championship podium and silver in the women’s in 2018. I’ve only been with the squad for a month, after joining them in the New Year in Fuerteventura, and so far everything is going well and I’m enjoying the training, the group and the environment.

However, that said, I will miss the group in Leeds and the friends I made over the past 2 years living there. It’s a great place to train and I will always be thankful for everyone being so welcoming and helpful when I first arrived. From the performance, to development and students athletes, the coaches and staff, everyone in Leeds allowed the Aussie to be one of the team, to feel at home, so for that I say thank you!

After a bit of a foot problem that came on during my last race of 2018 in Noosa, I spent a good month resting; something that at the end of a long season wasn’t too hard to do. If there is ever a time to sustain an injury then I guess the off season is it; the itch to start running that little bit earlier isn’t there and you can focus 100% on recovery and then rehab. I’ve had nice gradual build post injury and I feel confident in the training that I have managed to do that I will be good for the start of the season.
